Liveblogging the Jan 21 Debates
1:48 – And we’re done. Good riddance. AJ should probably be appointed debate moderator for life.
1:42 – Closing statements (in 35 seconds, because AJ wants to give the timekeeper a hard time). Candidates repeat opening statements. Everyone has a record, has a plan, has a voice. This dialectic was refreshing after the awful, awful, awful VPX debate.
1:40 – UBC Devil – Since RBF has failed in fighting the War on Fun, what will you do? Mike and Blake defends RBF and RBF/AMS Joint accomplishments. (YAYYYYY!) All give fairly good, if unremarkable answers.
Breaking Condorcet News
BREAKING NEWS! The RBT has learned that the Condorcet System, the voting system requiring ranked ballots that Council voted to approve without a plan for its implementation will indeed be used for this year’s elections.
According to Elections Admin Sarina Rehal, the University will be able to provide a CWL login for students to a voting program owned and hosted by the AMS, which will record and tabulate the votes. No word yet on whether this system will also carry the VFM Interpolated Consensus and BoG First Past The Post elections. I assume that it would, but assuming has never worked out well for me before.
Also, as you can see, we at the RBT are very excited about our new video camera, which, while we still have some kinks to work out with getting it to upload properly, will undoubtedly be a source of much delight for ourselves and hopefully you as well in the coming weeks.
Buzzword Bingo Round 2
Combine the following lists with this URL to generate your own card. Use a 5×5 card with a free space. Winner for each race wins a pint!
We’ve edited the lists so they’re a little more topical, and hopefully someone will win this time. I’ll see y’all who come out at the debates today. I will once again be liveblogging the experience.
