Name that Scandal

Well, in the past couple of years, we’ve seen some interesting scandals. Lougheedgate, The Bonfire Affair, Berniegate, Cookiegate, etc. What we have not seen are any interesting scandal names. I mean, perhaps Canada is just bad at it, but even the national media does better.

  • AdScam
  • The Sponsorship Scandal
  • HRDC Boondoggle
  • The Mulroney-Schreiber Affair
  • In and Out Scandal (Which was not, surprisingly, a sex scandal.)
  • L’affair de Bernier’s Briefs
  • Gracie’s Finger
  • The Raids on the Legislature
  • FastCat Fiasco

I could go on, but we need a better name for this than Slategate. Taking nominations now, will have poll up Sunday or Monday to name the gathering shitstorm. To start us off, some names I thought of while drunk.

  • The Affiliation Machinations
  • The Forbidden Friends Affair
  • SlateScam
  • The Termination Aberration
  • MergeScourge

It’s more than the slate bit, if you read the letter from the EC, there’s also an allegation of providing false statements to the EC. The name should probably reflect this… hrm.

I believe the official nickname for the Mulroney-Schreiber affair is “Schreiberbriber.”
