Women in Politics Thursday!

For those of you who are interested, there are a number of things that are going on tomorrow related to women in politics. One of them you should go to just because their guest is, according to promotions, “one of the most important women in Canada”.

Women in (Campus) Politics Mentorship Consultation

5:30 in Leon’s Lounge at the Graduate Student Center

We are inviting the women of UBC to take part in Equal Voice’s exciting political mentorship project by consulting with us about how they would like to see this exciting mentorship program work and what kind of speakers, forums and events they would like to attend! While there, enjoy some free cookies and sign up for a political mentor!

Meet Helena Guergis, Minister of State for the Status of Women

7 :00pm at the Hugh Dempster Pavilion, Room 310

This event comes to us from winner of the second AMS Buzzword Bingo, Katie Tyson.

Spend an evening with one of the most powerful and influential women in the country as she discusses “Women in Business and Politics”. Hosted by the Vancouver Quadra Conservative EDA and the UBC Campus Conservatives.

There will also be a question and answer session. Minister Guergis looks forward to meeting and taking questions from everyone. Bring your friends and anyone who might be interested. As it is quite rare for a Cabinet minister to make such a visit while Parliament is in session, this opportunity to interact with one of the key decision makers in your government should not be missed.

I’ll get back with some thoughts on the ACF debacle, the new executive’s first meeting, committee reform, the Patron Saint of Beer, and our search for writers.
