I think that the new AUS is becoming, at least in terms of Council culture, becoming a better place. Over the past year, the last executive was able to overcome a number of hurdles and set the AUS on a course to recovery, in a better fiscal position, and with a new and dedicated group of council members, and a competent executive.
It seems that the AUS is becoming more process oriented, cautious, conservative and tight fisted. I like it – before, an organization could just wear down the AUS with an overlong presentation. The same thing happened today, and after an hour of discussion, the motion failed because of problems both in process and merit.
This is probably good for an organization that was pretty close to bankrupt last year. It’s nice to see that the organization is demanding a higher standard in terms of adhering to the Code, of creating committees, and of disbursing money.
